We Could, Move the Crosshairs

I is NOT my understanding
that this country's foundation was laid
On the tenants of corporatization,
Or that it was plotted by
Perennial, polarized politicians.

Our stones were Not built on a genius
For building better, smarter bombs,
And laying international waste and destruction.

I was held to believe that
Our greatness was founded on
The individual's ability to find creative solutions
To common human problems -
Solutions that better humanity.

Our greatness as a people
Is our common,
But uncommon ability to work together,
To conceive new ideas,
And build new creations.

Maybe, if we worked together to
Better understand
Our original mission statement,
Instead of corporate bottom lines,

Maybe if we worked together on
Developing a nation
Based on our successes in
Bettering humanity,
Instead of one based on successes in
Business and war,

Well, maybe then,
We could ourselves,
Move the crosshairs.

Call me and we'll talk about it. - The first paragraph turns me off. In order to accept it you have to accept the premise corporate tyranny. Why not say "interest" instead of "tyranny." It pissed my off.
